Muslims using networking sites are sinners: fatwa in Egypt
Terming the use of networking sites such as Facebook as anti-Islamic, a top Egyptian cleric has issued a fatwa against it saying Muslims using such cyber platforms must be considered "sinners".
And the cleric went to extent of blaming such sites for growing incidents of marital discords in the country.
Noted Sunni scholar Sheikh Abdel Hamid al-Atras, former head of the fatwa commission at prestigious Al-Azhar University here, issued the fatwa saying such sites have resulted in rise of the marital infidelity.
"It's an instrument that destroys the family because it encourages spouses to have relations with other people who break Islamic Sharia law," he said in the fatwa.
"While one or other of the spouses is at work, the other is chatting online with someone else, wasting their time and flouting the Sharia. This endangers the Muslim family," said al-Atrash.
The fatwa came after a study earlier this week claimed that one in every five cases of divorces in Egypt [ Images ] had been caused after one of the partners started using social networking sites such as Facebook.
Last month, Grand Mufti of Egypt Ali Jumah condemned the practice of using Quranic verses as the mobile ringtones terming it as "improper" as it compromises the sacredness of the religious scriptures.

In some you should not talk even with another man if your married visa versa goes for the man too .
There will always be this debate on this or many other networking going on .
personaly with egypt i doubt this would happen they say saudi is strict but i talk with many friends there on facebook ,not many but a few .
Fatwas are to easy layed out now and some either are just slightly too provoking personaly i think sometimes they made by the boring priest who is bored in his own little world .
But it does say that one woman should not indulge in another conversation or impression of being availeble while married .
some husbands can cross it as fornicating wiered but its true ..

Its all about your intentions, if you indulge in flirting or an extra-marital relationship which leads to divorce, you can do that without being on-line just as you can go on-line with the same intention.
I note with interest that theres no mention of the millions of so called Muslim men that watch porn being sanctioned
Dignity comes not from control, but from understanding who you are and taking your rightful place in the world.

true ,but when i was in egypt with my husband i was not even allowed to talk or even show skin in some many waysChristine wrote:If all the muslims who indulge in porn or flirtation were to be caught, the internet cafe's would go out of business
or to even think of showing off the arm shoulder clothes or skirts above my knees .
but when came here he had to get his eyes and head around it ,very strict in kissing on films as well watching a bloody good movie and if one snog comes into it its turned over slightly a little leniant now ,i dont mind anyway i am used to it .
i would never dream of wearing shorts the thought of his eyes lol
i find some men even egyptians repulsive and dont care if your married or not they will make a play if they can .
but anyway this is about a fatwa and some of them are personaly nuts

Strange CB how they don't like to watch kissing or anything like that on tv but you watch most of the egyptian films and they are either about drugs or show the men hitting the women!!! Different countries different standards but really find the muslim ones difficult to understand at times even though i lived out there for quite a few years.
Anyway how are you and have you been for your check at the hospital yet?
