Egypt has imposed a ban on international calls via skype. Bad news for us ex-pats wanting to phone home....

I may be wrong but I think you will find the ban is on all international calls using a mobile phone and a service like Skype.
I think international calls using something like Skype through your computer and a land phone service like Vodafone will be fine, regardless of whether it is using 3G, EDGE, HSDPA or whatever.
So, no international calls using a mobile phone and a connection like Skype.
