Unexploded bomb found under pier

Army explosives experts have made safe a unexploded torpedo found buried beneath the pier at Largs in Ayrshire.

The old army ordnance device was found on Monday afternoon by divers working within the water at Largs promenade.

A security cordon was immediately thrown around the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out on the torpedo at about 2300 GMT.

Ferry services to Millport were disrupted during the security operation.
