Based on some recently reported stories of horrific crimes, I have been thinking a lot about what constitutes evil and how it is manifested.
For example, most people would argue that child abusers are evil but what about those people who stand by and let it happen, be that a neglectful parent or teacher or a lax security system that should be used for vetting.
Are those as evil as the abusers?
And how should evil be challenged and eradicated?
Can it be?

I dont think we will ever learn how evil is manifested, because we are not evil as a general rule, we therefore would find it impossible to find its source i would have thought.
Justice dosent in most cases meet out the punishment deserved for these hatefull crimes and so if you ahve this bad streak in you our justice system makes it easy to live out your most horrible plans and concepts, safe in the knowledge that not a great deal will happen to you(in comparrison to what you did to others) if you are ever caught at all.
This creates a breeding ground and a do as i like culture, making the eradication of evil harder.
Look to our justice system, its a farce!
Power has been taken away from people in a place of authority such as parents teachers etc and so this in turn has made teaching our young ones right from wrong harder.
Also i feel as ive aged and watched my own family grow that so many people have lost sight of good old fashioned values, respect, civility, patience, empathy, this in my view has led to a break down in our society, also aiding the wrong doers.
Again look to justice and the way it is served.
Just my thoughts .

Agree with you Christine about how society’s morals have declined as well as old fashioned values which people now think are outdated…being a good person is now out of fashion it seems?
I think that as you say, the justice system does have a lot to answer for as people know that they wont really be punished anymore

Dignity comes not from control, but from understanding who you are and taking your rightful place in the world.
