Yes.... I'd be able to follow the directions even if I didn't know it.
I still remember it as Beta Market street...even though Beta market's long gone now! The vet is in the road that goes through from Beta Market Street to Mashrabeya street.
Your directions are clear....no problem!
I never tried the place... because I had Sameh on recommendation.. and hewas pretty good to start with... he even came to my house to neuter 2 kittens.
BUT... he was hard to get hold of.... and wasn't even always at his surgery when you had an appointment..... infuriating when you've got a very sick animal!
Strange you say that Susue, I always remember a vet being there also.......but this one has only been open a few months, he is from Cairo. I always thought the one that had been there before was a Dr Markos however you spell it, any idea were his surgery is, not that I want to go to him just curious?

No idea HL..... but I remember people saying to me that the guy there wasn't very good.... that was why I went to Sameh in the first place... although Markos was much closer!
The new vet sounds pretty good.... I'll recommend him to my friend who now has my cat!!

My daughter and I had our own horses when I lived in England Jayway....the most therapeutic thing in the world after a stressful ay at work is to go out for a nice ride on a summer evening.... totally de-stressing!!

Today ---thinking - -will I find a decent horse to ride in Luxor this time ..... so far this quest has been a DISMAL failure - apparently the "good" horses are not for me, only can be controlled by men carrying a two metre stick - -? ?

Jayway I only ever rode in Egypt once... swore I'd never do it again!
I know Arab horses are supposed to be lean.... but I've never seen so many underfed horses in one place as I saw there!
Also... the hitting with huge sticks thing makes me mad!
My mood right now.... totally excited about next week's cruise!!!

You are lucky Marrakesh isnt a cruise stop - that is where I saw the most horrific horses , pairs in carriages, one leaning on the other to stay upright . open fly infected sores under the harness, crippled scarred legs from falling don so often -I even bought a postcard showing a carriage pair with bent legs - had nightmares for weeks after that trip, anyone going there and riding must be blind - -

it sickened me when i was there ,had to endure a poor horse hit a car and then die and only to be carried away with no dignity my daughter cannot cope with things like that ,i hope when the new law comes out they do away with the kaleshes and if they do proper roads for them and no working past certain hours ...
hurts me so much ,nearly rode one in cairo near pyramids but poor thing was coughing .the best ones you can find are in the north of Sina they mainly arabian and are looked after to the best well when i was there they was ,cause my family owned two at the time .

Happily for the horses things are improving in Luxor thanks to the exhaustive works of the animal hospital, and many were taken off of the streets, not out of compassion i add but becaue the mayor declared that the shoody appearance some of the horses had gave the city a poor image
But there are definate improvements
The worst treatment and state of horses ive ever seen in my life has to be Aswan, bloody disgusting, i once grabbed a whip from a Kalesh driver while visiting that city and threatened to give him a taste of the lash, i threw his whip away!!

Chris the Brooke animal hospital has been trying for years to improve the horses' conditions...
A FEW YEARS AGO, THEY BUILT SHELTERS FOR THE KALESH HOSES TO USE WHILE THEY WERE RESTING...
THE B#STARD DRIVERS PUT THE CARRIAGES IN THE SHADED SHELTERS AND LEFT TH HORSES STANDING IN THE SUN!!!!
Yep... I'm shouting..... this topic makes me mad!!!!
