A Music Quiz

Ok folks Christine has asked me to set a musical quiz. :)
The rules are simple, the following line should give you a clue as to what the theme of the songs are all about:

" Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain "

Now all you have to do is to put what you think is the title of the song after the correct artists in the list. :P

Best if you just copy & paste the list again after you add your own answers, as that way we can all see how it is being filled in.

Here we go, good luck ;)

The year is 1980, Siouxsie and the Banshees =

The year is 1969, Johnny Cash =

The year is 1970, Christie =

The year is 1968, The lemon Pipers =

The year is 1961, The Marcels =

The year is 1957, Duke Ellington =
(a very slight cheat with this one)

The year is 2008, Coldplay =

You were on the right track Christine :) the clue of course was the little nemonic for remembering the colours in a rainbow.
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo & Violet
And of course each songs name started with the appropriate colour.
Karen got it in a lot less time than it took me to think it up though

All i can come up with is the Monotones or Peter Gabriel, so if it wasnt Peter Gabriel and it wasnt the "group" the Monotones, was it some/one of the band members??
