A Long Time

Post by Semsema »

Hi Everyone from the UK.

Sorry I haven't been on the forum for a while but I am sure a lot of you will understand.

Mr. C. has started chemo and isn't too good today but hopefully he will be a bit better tomorrow.

Blimey it is lovely and warm here although there are murmurings of a hosepipe ban already.

Speak again soon. xxxxxx

Semsema my wee friend,
So lovely to see you back here again!
Give Mr C our love... and hopefully we'll see you here in sunny Georgia next summer!

The hospipe ban always makes me laugh..... either it rains constantly or there's a hosepipe ban!

Hope you're settled in the flat now!!

Hi Sensema,

we've never met but I've heard a lot about you and Mr C.

Chemo is nasty, I hope he gets through it well and feels better as things progress.

It's not so nasty, Lee.... I had it, and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected it!

Mr. C's a very strong-spirited man... as is Semsema. they're a totally devoted couple, been together a hundred years....and can get through anything together.... a bit of chemo won't hold him back!

I'm sure everyone on here joins me in wishing Mr C a speedy recovery!

To everyone who sent us their best wishes, a huge thank you.

Suesue if it is at all possible, we will definitely see you in Georgia next year.

The flu like symptoms are persisting today, but as you know, the fifth day is always the worst. I am sure he will be a bit better tomorrow. The prune juice is not going down too well though and he is drinking it under sufferance, but needs must.

Another glorious day, my washing is out on the line, the tea is all prepared so am settling down to watch the tennis.

44 years next month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Christine - as Mr. C. that is a lot of murders he could have committed and still been free. I think he is joking :)

He is having a good day today, his headache has gone and only a slight pain in his jaw. I think for future sessions we can forget the week after chemo. He has only had one sleep today, so here's hoping we can get a half decent sleep tonight.

Susue - well my wee friend, I think you and Mr. M come a very close second to being a lovely couple. All our love to you both.

Have you any tips on what I can give Mr. C. to eat? He says everything tastes the same, slightly metallic. Did you find this?

Love to our friends in Hurghada.

Sem.... I didn't drink tea or coffee for several years after chemo.... because of the metallic taste.
What I did drink (and it tasted very nice) was hot water! Lots of people on chemo find hot water very refreshing.... not sure why.... but it does!
As Mr C has already found out..... foods taste different!

What I did develop a huge appetite for was baked beans on toast!
Not sure why.... but I loved them... ate them daily for a long time!
Jacket potatoes too!!
Milk tasted horrible... and any milky products, including cheese..... not good!

His appetite will diminish.... that's fairly normal.... but he has to keep eating, to keep his strength up.... he needs to do that..... his white cell count will probably drop, and his immune system will not be so efficient. maybe some multivitamins too.

Basically..... give him anything he fancies, to keep his strength up!

I'm glad he's feeling a bit better.... as his body gets used to the treatment, he'll find himself feeling better through the chemo-free weeks.
He'll still get poopy days..... but chemo's a means to an end..... and in the years to come he'll look back and realise that even the poopiest days are worth it!

Love to you both X X

Hi Hurghada Lady,

Mr. C. is due to have 10 sessions in total, at 3 weekly intervals. The next one is 23rd July which is 4 weeks, apparently this is a new thing to let the body adjust slightly.
I made him an omelette last night which he ate. Unfortunately he said he would have been as well eating cardboard. He has gone on to ice cream though. The dietician said that when I make sauces and soups, I have to add cream to them and that he must have full cream milk in his tea/coffee.
We were hoping to go out today, even if it was only for a short walk, but he has a very upset tummy now, it has gone from one extreme to the other.

Susue, Thanks for the info. Luckily he likes baked beans, he says his jaws are sore, so will have to think of something without too much chewing. He is getting very 'snappy' which isn't like him, so I am biting my tongue quite a lot, which isn't like me. :) Hopefully he will be better tomorrow so he can at least get out.

Sem, He is just feeling crabby in general, it must be hard for you both, its cool that you are biting your tongue though ;)
When Alan got so very sick for such a long time he got snappy and out of sorts with everyone, but as Mr C gets a little stronger and a little less low, he will lighten up.
Love to you both  x
