Twelve tourists have been killed in a collision between a delivery truck and a bus carrying European and Russian tourists in Egypt's Sinai peninsula. Another 37 are wounded.
The dead include seven tourists from the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine, and five Egyptians. The names are not reported yet. Monday's crash occurred 17 km from the Red Sea resort town of Ras Sadr, what is about 200 km from Cairo. The tourists are said to be on their way back from pyramid excursions.
Annually about 6,000 people are killed on the Egyptian roads because of speeding and poor road conditions. In 2006 this figure reached 8,000 people.
