What to do about Gitmo?

Reading a Newsweek article about what might happen to Guantanamo Bay, the US base in Cuba where accused terrorists are currently being held. After January 20, Gitmo is Obama's problem.

One problem is that the home countries of some of these prisioners will not accept them back. Others would be subject to torture if returned. The article suggests some kind of European resettlement program might be negotiated. How would that go over in the European heartland?

Not bloody likely :x you picked them, they are yours to keep or try to send back again. We have enough of our own home grown nutters to deal with thank you very much.

I agree with Horus,

Can someone tell me with the not so great relationship with Cuba and America why Guantanamo is still there?

Why don't America take them all in, why send them to Europe? They deatained them, they should keep them.

Not sure most Americans knew it was there either until that prison suddenly became news. I'm sure you could goggle it. I think it was there before Castro took over.

By "America" you are talking about a union of 50 separate states. None of the states has stepped forward to take them either.
